What do you mean It's not normal

What do you mean it's not normal
To circle ethical dilemmas like a vulture
To have done so since you hatched
To have as an earliest memory
A playground campaign for the rights
Of pokemon

To have somewhere in someone's home or mine
New Internationalist and Amnesty
Notebooks and planners from the early 00's
I have so many historic notebooks and planners somewhere in someone's home or mine

I thought we all learned very young
That the world is ending and
ordinary anyone's can do incredible harms
Thought nothing of writing out what I would do this week
Next to a photograph of a Banksy on the Wall
around the west bank towering grey too hard
to register when you're eight
and in your second school in your fourth country
and dread so much already

and you're 31
and you've got a bottle of diet coke in your fridge
someone bought on New Years taking up a chunk of shelf
on the off chance you entertain again
so you do not cause by throwing away this thing
someone else to buy a bottle of diet coke
through your failure to provide it
but you haven't really had people round since new years
and it's summer now

Spring was lost to the ethical dilemmas and circling
and routine adjustments and schisms and losing
a bit of routine to set me back again getting back on track
readjusting and navel gazing
and learning very young
still learning, still young
that the world is ending and ordinary anyones can do
extraordinary incredible things
